Happy Together a partnership with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Beaver County

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Beaver County

What better way to describe the work of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Beaver County (BBBS) than Happy Together.

And it was a BBBS Little named Anyessa who had the honor of naming a Rachel’s Cure by Design (RCBD) bracelet that will serve as a fundraising tool and beautiful wearable reminder of that work. A contest was held at the BBBS Appreciation Dinner and Anyessa’s entry, Happy Together, was the perfect fit. She has been a Little at BBBS since January of 2011.

“Happy Together symbolizes the relationship of the bigs and littles together and this just takes the essence of the relationship - coming from a child and showcasing the relationship really well,” said Tiffany Thayer, Program Coordinator at BBBS.

Now available on www.rachelscbd.com, Happy Together, includes beautiful purple handblown glass beads and three charms symbolizing: PLAY to represent the relationship Bigs have with Littles, HOPE for a cure for juvenile diabetes and MADE WITH LOVE representing the love and care that goes into making each bracelet.

For each bracelet purchased, BBBS will receive a donation AND so will the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF).

A match was created when Dr. Jim Scibilia, BBBS board member, became connected through the purchase of a RCBD bracelet and was impressed by the ability to fundraise not only for JDRF but for a partner organization. And, donors not only have the satisfaction of knowing they are supporting a cause close to their heart, but they are also able to enjoy a fashionable piece of jewelry that may be given as a thoughtful gift.

Thayer added, “There is a PLAY charm on the bracelet. By volunteering with BBBS, the relationship provides Bigs with a chance to play again. The clasp is a heart which mirrors the middle of our logo where the heart shape represents the relationship a Big and Little form together through the organization.  At BBBS, the Littles are at the core of the program and we wanted everyone to know when they purchase a bracelet that the thought comes from the heart.”

Since 1975, BBBS of Beaver County has been providing children facing adversity with strong and enduring, professionally supported 1 to 1 relationships that change their lives for the better, forever. The are currently serving 352 Big/Little matches. They can be found at bcbigs.org. To purchase a Happy Together bracelet, visit rachelscbd.com.
